Epic Levels of Procrastination!
Never mind that Halloween is coming and costume ideas and materials are nowhere in sight.
Never mind that I want to have Thanksgiving at our house this year (seems a fitting way to end my summer's obsession with food) and I haven't sent invitations, ordered the turkey, made the honey-do list(S), planned the menu, nor have I thought about whether it is really a good idea to invite lots of people into our 800 square feet of yet unremodeled space that boasts neither a dining room, nor cable TV. Thanksgiving is about the food and the people, right?
Never mind that Christmas will follow soon after that with cards and cookies and decorations and presents and carols and travel and all the rest.
Never mind that Gymnastics competition season will sneak up on us, which means all weekends in January, February and March will be spent getting ready for meets, travel to meets, and recovering from meetings.
Never mind that work is crazy busy right now. The optimism of economic recovery, or the flurry of denial, has everyone wanting water rights bought, sold, transferred, fixed, or generally talked about, right now.
Never mind all that, let's talk about the 4th of July!!!
Papa Snacker's side of the family is planning a reunion in Minnesota in July. We've been talking about buying a minivan anyway. The girls are old enough (and load enough) to whine nonstop for hours on end, school will be out, so we are planning a road trip!! Papa Snacker would drive nonstop there and back, but I have other designs (and am taking suggestions!).
Right now, I'm assuming we will leave on Saturday or Sunday, take our time to get there on the Thursday before, Reunion + day or two, then wander home by Thursday.
Here's the plan so far:
Day 1: Spokane
Day 2: Billings (House of the Missing Sock)
Day 3: Mt Rushmore
Day 4-?: MN / Reunion
Day?? :
