Despite the weather, I know spring is here, because Lady Bird is at it again. She insists that she be allowed to lay her egg in the house. In through the cat window. If she's thrown out, she'll circle around and come right back in the cat window. Gizmo has taken to gaurding the window to keep her out, but she must have let down her gaurd yesterday. I was in the kitchen making toast when I heard the patter of little chicken feet come by. It was Lady Bird on her way to the back porch to find herself a spot to lay her egg. I put her back outside and not a minute later, she's trucking right back through the house to the porch. She didn't pay any attention to me at all. I just let her be. She wants it bad enough, who am I to break her spirit? Besides, from past experience, I know this can go on for hours. I can throw her out 10 times in one day before she'll take a hint. And even then, I think it's just timing that wears her down enough to find another place. The spot she really likes on Don's desk is no longer there. The market basket was in a tippy spot so she fell out. She finally decided on the basket where I keep the store bags. I went back to my office and ignored her. After awhile I heard her singing her funny little egg song. That means she's finished, and I can come back to let her out. Funny little thing.
So many animals! Are you guys looking to get more? Got a small little farm going on, not sure if cows or goats are in the ongoing debacle's future. ;) Fresh milk to go with the eggs
ReplyDeleteI've been threatening a pygmy goat but either no one believes me, or they want one too because no one has said no!
ReplyDeleteAwww! I would brave the chickens and pigeons to see the little goat!
