5th Grade Field Trip: Water Resources Center
The 5th Grade went on a field trip to the Water Resources Education Center today so of course I went along! We learned to do wetlands assessments and took water quality samples of the Columbia River. I think I had as much fun as the 5th graders. I also learned that a classroom of 5th graders makes Hurricane Bailey seem more like a minor tropical disturbance than the category 5 Hurricane she sometimes resembles. I even learned new stuff--a cool way to remember the 5 kinds of salmon. [thumb = chum; index finger = poke you in the eye or sockeye; middle finger = tallest finger or king (chinook); ring finger = jewelry or silver (coho); and pinkie finger = pinks.] I'll never be confused in a meeting of fish biologists again. I just hope they don't see me counting on my fingers.
