We are surviving the week. Of course, the universe picks this already crowded week to pour on more busyness. Hannah's musical was blissfully short, and the music teacher stuck to upbeat music that didn't require more range than the 8-year old vocal cords could reach. The parent-teacher

conference wasn't too bad, all things considered. The girls had two early outs this week. On Wednesday I dug out the Target gift cards from Christmas (Thanks Mom!) to get them some spring outfits.

The idea was to get one, maybe two, new outfits each. What did we come home with? Two outfits and an Easter dress apiece. The dresses were too cute to pass up. Besides, now I don't have to shop again until birthday season. Hannah's is the black and white--she's blissfully happy with the purchase and looks adorable in it. Bailey's is the brown and blue one (trust me Karen, I tried to avoid it) and looks great on her too, despite a color combination I don't quite get. Don took the shift on the other early out and had the girls cleaning out the chicken coop. The ladies are happy, but can you guess which one of us is more popular among the underage crowd? To address the chaos of the week, I did manage to both interview and hire a house cleaner. She'll be coming in twice a month to clean the kitchen and bathroom. I had forgotten how centering it is to have someone else clean you house. First, it takes a chore I loath from the list so I get the sense of accomplishment without the time it takes; Second, she does a far better job than I ever would; Finally, I don't have the added burden of being able to see the spots I missed, which both makes me feel like a failure and keeps cleaning my own house from ever feeling like an accomplishment. I do have to fess up that despite taking the time and making the effort to figure out a meal plan this week, I didn't have the energy to put it into practice. We've eaten out four of the last five days. Pitiful. I feel ill. But we'll survive.
