Santa's bead obsessed helpers

The flipping snacker is on doctor ordered stillness this week. After a couple of weeks of noise about her knee, when we finally clued in that this was the little snacker complaining, not the tall one, and took her to the doctor. Unlike the tall one, the little one did not inherit papa snacker's hypochondria. The doctor diagnosed patella tendinitis and prescribed rest, ice, and some nasty liquid anti inflammatory. We are using the downtime to make bracelets for the coaches for Christmas. We now have 5 finished, with one more to do. I found the pattern on a beading website, and tested it in the car on the way back from Wentachee last week. I figured, if I could make it work while Papa Snacker was driving, the girls could manage in the midst of the chaos that is them.
It's called a Faerie Queen Cuff and it looks quite elegant in the pictures. Of course, the directions call for following a pattern in the beading. The pattern was quickly rejected during the car testing, in favor of random selection. This helped speed the process, and helped ease the bead selection process as the beads come in tubes. It takes two tubes per bracelet, but the pattern called for 3 colors. I could just envision a lifetime of partial tubes of beads everywhere! Now we are looking for projects for teachers and grandparents. Good thing we started early this year!

  1. Yikes! That looks hard. I think we'll send cute little christmas cards to co-op teachers and call it good!
