One more causalty of the weekend

Phew. I didn't realize how busy last weekend was until I decided to get caught up on the blog! Here's the other new arrival to the house, a new fridge. Papa Snacker has been commenting on how the other never stopped running. It came with the building, and like all the appliances, was in rough shape. It finally gave in on Friday. (Luckily, the freezer in the basement was up and running, waiting for the fall butcher deliveries.) Saturday was spent traveling from appliance store to appliance store. Unfortunately, the kitchen was redesigned when refrigerators were smaller so the most we could squeeze in was a medium sized freezer top (no side-by-side with three produce drawers for me). The new one matches the stove Don bought me last Christmas. The best part is clear crisper drawers with humidity control (even if they barely fit a week's produce). We set the new one up in the driveway on Saturday to save what food we could. Now THAT would have been a picture for the blog. I sometimes wonder what the neighbors must think. Papa snacker moved the old one out (after removing doors from the old one AND the pantry to get it out of the house) and the new one in on Sunday. But what to do about the old one? Lawn Art? Container Gardening? No problem. Scrapper elves came and hauled it away, without so much as a loud noise. (I was home in the house and didn't hear a thing.) That's urban living.
