Spring Bounty

Our Camas Farmer's Market doesn't start until late May. While it seems to be approaching way too quickly when the list of things to be accomplished before opening day is tallied. The thought of waiting that long for fresh produce (or waiting for the garden debacle to supply anything, longer still!) make me despair. We had the Hillsdale winter market every other Saturday, but we often seems to be a conflict on the right Saturday. Now that the groundhog's six weeks of waiting has passed, we now have the Portland Market too!! Don had rock trip planned for today that he had to leave by 9:30, so we jumped in the car at 8, raced to downtown Portland, zoomed around the massively sized spring market, and raced home again. Everything I bought could have been bought from Safeway (if we ate conventional produce, which I try not to do) or Whole Foods(if we wanted older and more expensive produce). But the feeling of walking around the market in the cool of the morning, with all the smells and sights and sounds, just fed my soul. I could have wondered around there for an hour at least, but still managed to soak up as much as I could in the time that we had. I'm now inspired for the rest of my day--hanging out with the chickens, trying natural dyes for my easter eggs, finishing our taxes, cleaning, planning an easter dinner menu, maybe napping.
