Elementary School Chronicles: Kids Can Cook!

Ms. Hannah entered the Camas Kids Can Cook! contest with her Peanut Butter Puppy Chow recipe.  The contest is for 3rd, 4th & 5th graders.  Her recipe was picked as one of 20 to come to a special cook-off!  She got to join the other contestants today to cook her masterpiece in the kitchen at the middle school, then have people come taste test.  There was a little misunderstanding about the temperature and times needed to cook the puppy chow, so it didn't turn out so well, but she had a great time anyway!
  Peanut Butter Puppy Chow
6 Tablespoons honey
4 Tablespoons Butter
6 Tablespoons peanut butter
4 cups Chex cereal
2 cups mini pretzels
1 cup peanuts
1 cup chocolate chips
(*) Preheat Preheat oven to 175 degrees.
(1) Combine sticky stuff in a saucepan. Melt together over low heat on the stove top until smooth. (OR Combine sticky stuff in a microwave-safe bowl and heat until smooth.)
(2) Combine dry stuff in a huge bowl.
(3) Pour sticky stuff over dry stuff and mix gently.
(4) Spread on baking sheet and bake 1-1/2 hours.  [Note: it is better to cook for less time, than to raise the temperature!!!!]
