So soon the summer ends. Not too soon, mind you. I've been counting the days for awhile now. The world seems calmer, the light softer, thoughts more introspective. The girls started their new schools today, each without the other for the first time in awhile. Middle school starts at 7:45 so Ms. Bailey was up early birdy. She just couldn't help but roust Hannah out of bed too. Both had a good balance of nervousness and courage when faced with a new environment. I was very proud of both. I'm looking forward to the afternoon report. Now I have to find a new balance as well! No more excuses for distraction, it's back to work for me too.
I've been puzzling over the theme for September. August was "preparation" month--preparing the girls for school, preparing Memaw's house for sale, preparing food for the winter. I think September will follow as "simplify" month--continuing to clear clutter (both here and at Memaw's), build routines and, of course, more cooking. That will prepare us for the October / November / December holiday months, followed by the January / February / March competition months.
