Stubborn Chicken

We finally let Lady have her way. After months of searching for a safe spot to lay her eggs, she finally found one. By the time we found it, there were already 6 eggs in it. We just didn't have the heart to take them away from her. She found the perfect little spot, under the hedge, next to the fence, surrounded by ivy. On Tuesday, she decided enough is enough and settled in. She refuses to budge. Not for rain. Not for dark. Occasionally, for neighbor cats. Don rigged her a plywood roof to keep her dry and better hidden. Now, we just sit and wait. And hope for the best. It'll be a sad day around here if something happens to the little one. I can't help checking on her from time to time. Don won't let me take pictures, doesn't want to disturb her. I try not to peak too often, so as to not raise curiosity among the neighborhood kids and creatures as to what's so interesting under that big board. Nerve wracking! How will we survive the next 19 days?
