Emerald Team Challenge

We survived the Emerald Team Challenge, Hannah's 3rd meet, in Cottage Grove (Eugene) yesterday, but just barely. We had some tired kiddos. Hannah's team was scheduled to compete at 5:00pm, which as you can imagine means something more like 6:00pm. After the drive down, the wait, and the chronic bad knee, the performance went a little flat. No medals this time, but lots of learning! Turns out that our muscles do get tired when we don't feed them. And having the skills is different from using the skills. But she's a trooper, she supported her teammates and, despite the disappointment, there were no tears. All good stuff. After two back-to-back road trips, I've come to think the mini van may not be big enough. I'm considering one of those motor-coaches. I am proud to say, that both girls learned to read a map this weekend!!!! (Replacing the are-we-there-yet whine with you-had-it-last accusations.) The map concept is even helping Hannah understand the distinction between states and countries. We made it home to bed by midnight dst (that's only 11 pm standard time, not too bad!). We are now half way through the competition season! Next week, it's up to Kent with the other gymnast. Here's a link to the pictures. [work in progress] Grab your motion sickness goggles, Bailey took over photography duties for this meet. Combined with the no-flash on the floor rule, many (most) are more impressionistic than realistic. Also, many are of girls not on our team. :) Some leos, she obviously liked better than others.
