Bailey's Lucky Charm Invitational
We survived our first real meet this weekend! It was grueling and I won't lie, there was one teary snacker this morning when it was time to go to school. (That would be the little one. The recent champion was still in high spirits from the day before.) But otherwise, our 15 hour adventure travel and competition went well. We started out at 9 am to pick up our extras and get on the road. We made it to Olympia before we had to stop for food, then back on the road to the meet in north Seattle. The girls didn't really get nervous until they saw the space needle. By then it was too late to turn around.
Bailey has 8 gymnasts on her Rec Op team. Because so many gymnasts registered, the meet split the girls by age and added a 3rd session. Half the team competed at 1pm and the half we brought completed at 4pm. We went early to support the team and check out the competition. Bailey's floor routine had some issues, which was disappointing because it's usually her best event, but she didn't let that get to her. (PHEW!) Our half of the team took first on bars (Bailey) and floor (Verna), and fourth all around (Bailey). By then it was 7:30 so we hit Subway, then back on the road for the long drive home. We were home and in bed by midnight. What a day!
