Checking in....

I've become a lame blogger. The winter weather seems to have affected my give-a-damn. Winter is always a challenge around here. Thankfully, I started planning for Christmas in October so the slide into oblivion, for once, didn't derail my holiday spirit at just the moment when the push was on. I was ready! We had a lovely trip to Spokane, then back to Camas for Christmas and 10 days of holiday break with the girls. We saw some snow and avoided most winter weather driving conditions. Back here in Camas, we celebrated New Years with fondue and tons of kids at Don Sagat's (seemed appropriate since that's where we also spent Halloween and Thanksgiving, some houses are just made for a party). So now, it's a new year. The girls are getting ready for their first competitive season of gymnastics. Their winter break was spent going between the gym and the slumber party circuit. Starting next month, most of our weekends will be spent traveling to meets with one or the other. They are very! excited and loving the new challenge. Don's new obsession is rocks. The real estate market here is not great so he's taken on a sideline business: selling rocks on ebay. He's enjoying it, but the living room is now full of rocks and boxes of rocks to the point where I try to avoid it whenever possible. I feel the need to rest up. I had a brief obsession with making bread, first in the bread maker (thanks Mom for the loaner!), then sweet rolls. The bread wasn't so great, so it went to the chickens. They loved it. Of course, they'll eat just about anything. The sweet rolls were a bigger hit. Now I'm on a mission to get my reading list pared down. I spent most of Friday and Saturday hiding from the world, reading sci fi for teens (books two and three of the Midnighter series). Hopefully, spring will come soon.
