We made it back to Camas finally! But not without a hiccup. A hybrid can run, for awhile anyway, without gas, but it cannot run without a battery. Turns out that when the battery on a hybrid dies, there are problems. We still don't know why, but when we went to leave the marina yesterday morning, nothing happened. In fact, you can hardly get into it without the battery. Only the drivers side door takes a key (which we had to remember first, then figure out how to get it wiggled out of the sensor key we usually use). We had to put the seats down and crawl through to get bags out of the back. Here's a picture of the friendly fellow that came to help (not before Don had to call several times). The picture's for Dad. It was a pretty little tow truck, reminded me of his old style trucks from when I was a kid. (And of course the book, How Many Trucks Can a Tow Truck Tow.) I'll spare you the scene (who's fault, rental car pick up AND return, you went where for the coffee?), but I was only 1/2 hour late for a client meeting in Tumwater (I called first). Don had to spend the day driving around Tumwater because he was afraid to turn it off. The good news is that Tumwater has the cutest little farmers market on Wednesday, so it wasn't a total waste. And now we are home again! Phew, we might be getting too old for trips like this.
okay... what's up with the new digs (for the blog)? You really should warn me!
ReplyDeleteI was bored. Do you like the old one better?
